office spring cleaning Monday, August 15, 2005 Remember my last post abt u never know how much rubbish u at on ur workstation till u start clearing? Well, u never know how much rubbish there is in your office still you start clearing.My company occupied 2 office units and we cleared so much rubbish that they filled up 1/4 of the back unit. My department alone, we cleared 4 big boxes (those DHL jumbo boxes) of rubbish. Heres a note to all sales and marketing people: If you want to design you company catalogue or brochure, please bind them into a book (hard covers best) or compile them into a folder (hard cover ring files with your company name printed big big on it best). DO NOT (I REPEAT, DO NOT WASTE MONEY) design loose pages of leaflets. Cause what happens when we are doing office house keeping?? We simply throw them away without even thinking twice. We will not be bothered to file properly for you. So the moment we see loose pages of brochures or catalogues, we THROW. Do not bother to give us your annual reports. I know you want to boast that your company is listed and earning well but we are not your share holder. Give us your annual report for fuck?!?! all annual reports, THROW. Please make sure that you have your company contact info, or your business card attached on the catalogue or brochure. It is very stupid if we have your catalogue but dunno what company it belongs to. All unidentified catalogues, we THROW. Then while clearing all the vacant desks in my department (my dept used to have 6 pple, but now down sized to 3 pple. So there were 3 empty desks), I cannot help but exclaim what these people left behind. I have switched jobs twice and each time before I leave my office, I always make sure I clear my desk and drawers. If I dun clear them completely, I make sure I at least clear all my personal stuff. But seems that the ex procurement people here are not like that (when I joined, they left already). When I was clearing their drawers, I find stuffs like sweet, toothpick. Lighter, empty discman box inside. If I dunno, looking at the drawer, I would have thought that the desk is still occupied. I even found more personal stuffs like credit card letters and a bag full of letters and notes for them!!! There were lots of other weird stuffs we chance upon while clearing the office like 2 gigantic paper fans, shirts and caps (think belong to the ex colleagues). By the end of the house keeping session, everybody was hungry. My GM ordered pizza hut and KFC for all of us. Luckily he still zi dong, buy lunch for us. But still, having to go back office on a sat is a sibeh super duper sian. |
