Watching national day parade on tv yesterday brings me a sense of nostalgia.

Watching the parade reminds me of my previous company, BE. A lot of the accessories, like the flag sling stuff, the flag poles, the pace sticks, epaulettes, berets are all BEs products!! Although they are all under YTs scope, but still I will go like, hey, BE made that item, BE provided that item, blah blah.

the showcase of all the tanks and armor vehicles also reminded me of my days at BE. Though at BE, I was clearly overworked and under paid, but it still gained me valuable exposures, especially to arnament and weapons. I mean how many girls (not signed on with the SAF) have the chance to see physically see a GPMG before? How many girls even know what a GPMG stands for? I am hao lian to say that I have had the chance to see before the following...

7.62 GPMG
M16 rifle
84mm RCL
120, 105 & 106mm mortar
FH2000 howitzer

Ive also been onboard the PCG patrol vessel and one of the navy vessel at tuas naval base (cant remember which one it is though).

Watching the whole march pass also reminded me of my school days cause every national day we will have our own marching pass parade and after that there is usually some jumble sale or funfair (I cant remember clearly) and being in the band means I am part of the marching parade every year. And after the march past, me and my bunch of crazy band mates will always fool ard, having fun singing the national day songs, throwing our berets around.

Then, when the performance started, I am reminded of the good old times where I am part of the participant. Yes, I have participated in NDP, twice. Once was with my school band, in year 1995, held at padang and the most recent one was at year 2001, with SSA.

Call me siao on or jia bah bo sai pang but its really fun to take part in the NDP, though it means A LOT of your weekends and even weekdays burnt. But the sense of closeness and achievement you felt at the end of the whole thing is beyond words. And you can get to see the fireworks as well.

end note:

dun ask me y, some days we wake up feeling good, feeling the world is such a beautiful place and some day we wake up feeling fucked up.
