The weekend that passed seems like a birthday weekend.


First was faith 21st birthday chalet on Friday. Going to her chalet makes me feel so old leh. I celebrated my 21st birthday 4 years ago. And once you pass 21, the candles on your cake increase faster than you can say old.


When I was young, I used to think birthdays are a big deal. Must celebrate, must have cake, sing the birthday song, must blow candles, must have presents. I even used to take leave every birthday cause I think that the day is for enjoyment, not work. Till recent years, I dun really celebrate my birthday anymore. Just a simple meal with my loved ones is enough. Its depressing to see the number of candles increasing on your cake.


Back to my 21st birthday... I had a chalet at SAF changi. And the poor time management me had my guests waiting outside the chalet while I was still on the way collecting food. Haha. Heng those that came early were my then colleagues (all aunties and uncles) and they spare no time helping me with the preparation (thawing the food, setting the fire) when I arrived. Haha, so pai say.


But actually I think having a birthday chalet is very tiring. Cause there were so many different groups of friends and I have to run around to entertain all of them. Heng I bought mahjong, poker cards and play station there and all my friends are gamblers (birds of feathers flock together) and so they can find their own entertainment. In the end I didn���t eat much also cause I was so busy, making sure everything is ok. I cant remember if I ate the cake as well but I can sure remember the cake was smashed on me. Thats the only time where all my friends who dunno each other initially suddenly ganged up against me. So who had the most fun out of the chalet?? I think not me.


So I will never opt for a birthday chalet again. Too much hassel, time and money consuming also. But like I said, nowadays I also dun really bother to celebrate my birthday also.




Then on Sunday was sis birthday celebration. Today is her actual birthday. SHEN RI KUAI LE. Actually there we did not really celebrate lahz but thom and I made her a cheese cake, which was ehhhh, a flop.


We went carrefour on sat and bought the ingredients. We even bought a blender!! But we cant find the vegetarian gelatine so we used vegetarian jelly as a substitute. The result??


The cake was too creamy and did not harden even though we chill it for more than 12 hours. So in the end its like yogurt cake. We have to scope the yogurt out and eat with the biscuit crust. But thom and I have vowed to experiment again till we can make the tian xia wu di cheesecakes. I think we will try again next week.


When we have successfully come out with our own cheesecake recipe, we will make different flavored cheesecakes, like oreo cheesecake, chocolate chip cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake...


Speaking of oreo cheesecakes...



Que: whats the fastest way to sprinkle orea crumbs on the cake??

Ans: chew the biscuits into fine grain with your mouth and pui them out on the cake (ala merlion style)



Isnt this an ingenious idea?? Thom thought of it one... :p
